The Twin Springs Titans will face off against the Holston Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Holston will be up against a hot Twin Springs team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Titans' pitcher stepped up to hand Honaker a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Titans this season.
Makenzie Gillenwater made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Gillenwater was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Meade, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bella Guevara, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Twin Springs lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Holston strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over Grayson County. The game was the first time the Cavaliers have beaten the Blue Devils on their field since April 11, 2015.
Like Twin Springs, Holston also got a great game from a two-way player: Rily Cobler. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over 7.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Cobler has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than 12 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Haleigh Dutton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. Katie Remine was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Twin Springs' victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Holston, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Twin Springs might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Holston in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
