The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Red Rock Central in their matchups with St. Mary's: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Red Rock Central still got an impressive performance from Isaac Simonson, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 19 rebounds. Simonson scored a full 39.4% of Red Rock Central's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Corey Arkell, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Red Rock Central were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Mary's only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Will Walter was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 38 points and 0 assists for St. Mary's. The game was Walter's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jon Petermann, who scored 15 points.
Red Rock Central now has a losing record at 1-2. As for St. Mary's, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Red Rock Central will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda at 7:00 p.m. Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for St. Mary's, they will head out on the road to face off against Sleepy Eye at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Minnesota (Sleepy Eye is ranked 49th, while St. Mary's is ranked 41st).
