The Whittier Christian Heralds will head out on the road to face off against the Lynwood Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Whittier Christian is ranked 774th, while Lynwood is ranked 790th).
With a playoff game on the line, Whittier Christian rose to the challenge on Friday. They really took it to Duarte for the full four quarters, racking up a 41-14 win at home. The result was nothing new for Whittier Christian, who have now won seven matches by 27 points or more so far this season.
Caleb Mer was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 197 yards and four touchdowns on only 16 passes. Whittier Christian also got a significant boost from Jake Martinez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 90 yards.
Meanwhile, Lynwood's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past The Webb Schools 30-27. The win was just what Lynwood needed coming off of a 38-0 loss in their prior matchup.
Whittier Christian pushed their record up to 7-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.33 points. As for Lynwood, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Whittier Christian beat Lynwood 20-7 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Whittier Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
