Bol Kuir of
Belfry (Ky.) had a rebounding performance for the ages Thursday evening, grabbing 42 of them along with 25 points and eight blocks to help his team secure a 78-77 double overtime win over Lawrence County (Louisa). He accounted for nearly half of the game's 85 combined rebounds and doubled the opposition's total of 21 by himself.
Kuir's 42 rebounds are the most in a KHSAA game in 64 years and the second most in state history. He fell just six rebounds shy of the state record set by Fredonia's Sam Milton, who snagged 48 boards on Feb. 21, 1957.
Earlier this month, the South Sudan native recorded a career-high 32 points, 15 rebounds and four assists in a 95-70 victory over Floyd Central.
"He moves well, runs well. His upside is unreal," Belfry head coach Mark Thompson told MaxPreps two weeks ago. "I have never had a NBA player but he has what I would consider NBA skills. His range and touch are impressive and he's still just a junior."
Over the course of his last 10 games, Kuir's production has been on the uptick, averaging 17.7 points, 16.5 rebounds and 4.4 blocks per outing. Belfry is 8-2 during that stretch.
Belfry improved to 15-9 on the season with the win.
