After a string of nine wins, the River Valley Vikings's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 86-77 to Shelby. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (75), River Valley still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why River Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Carson Smith. Despite the final result, he scored 30 points along with four steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Kenney, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
River Valley's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4. As for Shelby, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Valley will face off against the Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Francis DeSales is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Shelby, they will head out on the road to face off against the Colts at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. Clear Fork will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 431st, while the Whippets are ranked 42nd).
