The Glenburn Panther will head out on the road to face off against the Bottineau Braves/Stars at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Glenburn has given up an average of 17.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Glenburn's last matchup with Tioga could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Panther came up short against the Pirates, falling 28-13. The Panther have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mila Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those home runs were her first of the season. Emma Jones was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, Bottineau entered their tilt with New Town on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 19-0 shutout. The Braves/Stars' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matches.
Kaia Hennings was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kamryn Allard was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Harleigh Parisien, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Bottineau lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Bottineau's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Glenburn, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Both Glenburn and Bottineau just can't seem to miss. The Panther have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 15.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Bottineau struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 1.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Glenburn might still be hurting after the 17-7 defeat they got from Bottineau in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Panther avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
