Hoxie is 10-0 against Quinter since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hoxie Indians will head out on the road to challenge the Quinter Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Hoxie will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Quinter is ranked 83rd).
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Hoxie beat Russell 49-44. The win made it back-to-back wins for Hoxie.
Meanwhile, Quinter scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Golden Plains, posting a 96-42 victory on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Quinter has managed all season.
Quinter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shea Salyers, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Salyers scored 15 or more points. Avery Briggs was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Hoxie has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. As for Quinter, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Hoxie came out on top in a nail-biter against Quinter when the teams last played back in January of 2023, sneaking past 57-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hoxie since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
