Volleyball Recap: Aleigha Colley Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Cape Coral

Cape Coral came into Tuesday's game looking for another win against Mariner, but Jayda Hutchins wouldn't allow it. The Tritons had just enough and edged out the Seahawks 3-2 on Tuesday for which the team can thank Hutchins, who had 17 kills, 15 digs, and five aces. Hutchins is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season.

Mariner had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 20-25, 25-19, 25-14, 15-7.

Mariner's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aleigha Colley led the charge by getting 19 digs. Calleigh Buzard was another key player, getting five kills, three aces, and two blocks.

Mariner was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 19 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 13 aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Mariner's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Cape Coral, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Mariner didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Cypress Lake on the 28th. As for Cape Coral, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Oasis on the 27th.
