Northwest Rankin is 6-0 against Meridian since November of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Northwest Rankin take on the Meridian at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northwest Rankin has four straight wins, Meridian has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Northwest Rankin is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Brandon, who was ranked second at the time (Northwest Rankin was ranked first). Northwest Rankin had just enough and edged Brandon out 3-2 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by just one goal.

They hit Brandon with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Amiyah Barnes, Kate Gray Nesbit, and Sarahkate Foreman.

Meanwhile, Meridian fell victim to Brandon and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They lost 9-0 to the Bulldogs.

Northwest Rankin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 40 goals over those eight matches. As for Meridian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.

Everything went Northwest Rankin's way against Meridian in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as Northwest Rankin made off with a 12-0 victory. Will Northwest Rankin repeat their success, or does Meridian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
