The Incarnate Word Academy Falcons will head out on the road to challenge the St. Pius X Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with ten consecutive losses for Incarnate Word Academy and five for St. Pius X.
Last Thursday, Incarnate Word Academy came up short against Concordia Lutheran and fell 57-44. While losing is never fun, Incarnate Word Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1077th, while Concordia Lutheran is ranked 240th).
Meanwhile, St. Pius X had to suffer through a rough 80-45 loss at the hands of Antonian Prep. St. Pius X was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-19.
Incarnate Word Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season. As for St. Pius X, they now have a losing record at 15-16.
Incarnate Word Academy ended up a good deal behind St. Pius X in their previous meeting back in January, losing 55-41. Can Incarnate Word Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
