Softball Recap: J.F. Webb's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

J.F. Webb was the 6-3 winner over Louisburg when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. J.F. Webb took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Louisburg on Friday. J.F. Webb's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Zikerra Reed was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Simone Ovando, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, J.F. Webb was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive matches.

J.F. Webb's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Louisburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

J.F. Webb will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Southern School of Energy and Sustainability at 5:00 p.m. on April 8. As for Louisburg, they will face off against Vance County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Louisburg is facing Vance County at the right time seeing as Vance County is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
