The Berthoud Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Valley Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Berthoud is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Berthoud posted their biggest victory since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Sterling 62-40. The victory was just what Berthoud needed coming off of a 69-42 defeat in their prior game.
It was another big night for Avery Pfohl, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Ellie Harper was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Valley suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Resurrection Christian, falling 70-23. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Valley has scored all season.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Nevaeh Jimenez and
Peyton Savolt, who each put up eight points. Jimenez also led the team in rebounds with ten.
Berthoud's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Valley, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Berthoud have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Berthoud against Valley when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 67-32 win. Does Berthoud have another victory up their sleeve, or will Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
