Belvidere North is 1-9 against Hononegah since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Blue Thunder will square off against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Belvidere North will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Belvidere North got the win against Guilford by a conclusive 16-3. Considering the Blue Thunder have won 12 games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Alexis Murphy was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Isabelle Schadle was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.
Belvidere North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Guilford only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Hononegah's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Harlem by a score of 7-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Aislyn Palmer was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelyn Kelly, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Belvidere North's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Hononegah, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 14-2.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Belvidere North hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like Hononegah struggles in that department as they've averaged .391. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Belvidere North couldn't quite get it done against Hononegah in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 7-4. Can the Blue Thunder avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
