College Station and Huntsville are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The College Station Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Huntsville Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. College Station's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Huntsville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Tuesday, College Station made easy work of Montgomery and carried off a 9-1 win. Considering the Cougars have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Gracie Ream made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 14 games.
In other batting news, College Station let Shaenyn Yates and Callia Carreon run wild. Yates scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Carreon scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Yates has posted since back in March of 2024. Kenslee Palasota was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
College Station kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Huntsville fell victim to Lake Creek and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to the Lions. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Hornets were not able to get on the board.
College Station pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Huntsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.
College Station's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. College Station has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Huntsville, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will College Station continue to outrun the ball?
College Station took their win against Huntsville in their previous meeting back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 9-1. Does College Station have another victory up their sleeve, or will Huntsville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
