The Rosebud-Lott Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Moody Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rosebud-Lott is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Rosebud-Lott fell victim to Marlin's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Bulldogs at home and fell 34-0. While losing is never fun, Rosebud-Lott can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 909th, while Marlin is ranked 439th).
Meanwhile, Moody's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to Bruceville-Eddy 10-6.
The losses dropped Rosebud-Lott to 3-6 and Moody to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Rosebud-Lott against Moody in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 41-13 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Moody's Ryder Hohhertz, who rushed for 62 yards and two touchdowns. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Rosebud-Lott to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
