Sneads is 8-2 against Altha since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Sneads Pirates will head out to challenge the Altha Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Sneads will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row dating back to last season, Sneads turned things around against Malone on Thursday. They blew past the Tigers 25-6. With that win, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 8 runs per game.
Naryah Dudley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Dudley was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season.
In other batting news, Sneads got a massive performance out of JaVayah Johnson, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Johnson also put up three hits, which were her first of the season. Danika Rogers was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.
Sneads always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .628. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Altha's offense. They lost 15-0 to North Bay Haven Academy on Thursday. The game marked the first time this year in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.
Sneads' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Altha, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sneads has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .490. However, it's not like Altha struggles in that department as they've averaged .450. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sneads came up short against Altha in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 15-12. Can Sneads avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
