Baseball Recap: Northwestern Wins Going Away Against Northeastern

Northwestern had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Northeastern on Saturday. Northwestern put the hurt on Northeastern with a sharp 13-5 victory. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered a 6-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Samuel Baggett made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Baggett was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Caleb Filler was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Valle, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.

Northwestern's win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwestern will head out to take on Milton-Union at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Northeastern, they will venture away from home to face off against West Jefferson at 5:30 p.m. on April 7.
