Basketball Recap: Armstrong Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Armstrong had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They strolled past the Varina Blue Devils with points to spare, taking the game 45-26. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Blue Devils, too.

Despite the loss, Varina still got an impressive performance from Kaliyah Straughter, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Straughter is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Solai Coleman was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to ten rebounds and five assists.

Armstrong's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Varina, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Armstrong will head out to face off against Patrick Henry at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Armstrong is facing Patrick Henry at the right time seeing as Patrick Henry is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Varina has already played their next contest (against Mechanicsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
