Evergreen Park is a perfect 10-0 against Blue Island Eisenhower since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Mustangs will take on the Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Evergreen Park turned things around against Reavis on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 10-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Blue Island Eisenhower posted their closest win since March 28, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Crete-Monee 11-10. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Cardinals' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Marisa Blackhawk made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last nine matches. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Sydney Clark was excellent, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Melina Montoya, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Blue Island Eisenhower always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They are 5-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Blue Island Eisenhower's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14. As for Evergreen Park, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Everything went Evergreen Park's way against Blue Island Eisenhower in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Evergreen Park made off with a 14-1 win. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
