Basketball Recap: Loogootee Takes a Loss

After a string of three wins, Loogootee's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They came up short against the Gibson Southern Titans, falling 58-37. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Titans are ranked 59th).

Gibson Southern had a senior duo take command as Cam Novotny went 5 for 6 on his way to 20 points and Brodey Lamb posted 13 points and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Novotny has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Marvel, who had seven points and eight rebounds.

Loogootee's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Gibson Southern, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Loogootee will be playing in front of their home fans against Vincennes Rivet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gibson Southern, they will head out on the road to face off against Heritage Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gibson Southern is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57 points per game this season.
