The Jefferson Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Morgantown Mohigans at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Jefferson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Spring Mills 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since April 16th.
Jersey Rummel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ainsley Phillips, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. LeeAnn Martin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Morgantown faced Wheeling Park in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Mohigans were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Patriots. Winning may never get old, but the Mohigans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Like Jefferson, Morgantown also got a great game from a two-way player: MADISON WISMAN. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. WISMAN was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, HAYLEY STREET was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was CAROLINE MALLOW, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Morgantown hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wheeling Park struck out 11 times.
Jefferson's record is now 12-16. As for Morgantown, their record now sits at 20-10.
Jefferson came up short against Morgantown in their previous meeting back in April, falling 3-0. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
