University Heights and Hopkinsville are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Blazers will host the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. University Heights will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Friday, University Heights made easy work of Crittenden County and carried off an 11-1 victory.

Ryan Luckey made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Luckey was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cadence Gibson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Pace, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
University Heights always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crittenden County only posted an OBP of .304.
Meanwhile, Hopkinsville came up short against Northeast on Friday, falling 10-4.
Hopkinsville saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Fort, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That stolen base was Fort's first of the season. Another was Layton Lindsey, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
University Heights pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hopkinsville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
University Heights beat Hopkinsville 4-1 in their previous meeting back in March. Do the Blazers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
