Volleyball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Brea Olinda's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Brea Olinda unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Laguna Beach Breakers.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Laguna Beach scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-21.

Leading Laguna Beach to victory were Ben Goodwin and Dylan Sweet. Goodwin had 25 assists and six digs, while Sweet had seven digs and two assists. Goodwin has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more assists the last 26 times he's played. Grey Bulloch also deserves some recognition as he served his first aces of the season.

Brea Olinda's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Laguna Beach, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-13.

Brea Olinda wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Diamond Ranch on the 19th. As for Laguna Beach, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Alta Loma on the 19th.
