Baseball Game Preview: Nebraska City Pioneers vs. Wahoo/Bishop Neumann Warriors

Nebraska City and Wahoo/Bishop Neumann are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. Nebraska City will be playing at home against Wahoo/Bishop Neumann at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Nebraska City took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Auburn by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The game marked the Pioneers' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Callen Schnitzer and Jesus Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Schnitzer scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Martinez scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. That's the most hits Schnitzer has posted since back in April of 2024. Sam Rovetto also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Nebraska City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Wahoo/Bishop Neumann narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Lincoln Christian 2-1. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Alex Barry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack VanSlyke, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

The win got Nebraska City back to even at 3-3. As for Wahoo/Bishop Neumann, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
