The Brookfield Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Liberty Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Brookfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday.
Brookfield's 18-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Valley Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Matteo Fortuna, who scored 25 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Another player making a difference was Riley Russo, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Liberty's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Memorial. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 724th, while Memorial is ranked 304th).
Brookfield has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Everything came up roses for Brookfield against Liberty when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 68-41 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Liberty's Evan Bates, who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Brookfield still be able to contain him? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
