Softball Recap: Dunnellon Wins Going Away Against Weeki Wachee

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dunnellon). They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Weeki Wachee Hornets on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Tigers with their most commanding win of the season.

Aden Permar and Kasiyah Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Permar went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Jones scored a run while going 2-for-3. Jones also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Taytym Simonsen, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Dunnellon now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Weeki Wachee, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Dunnellon will take on Hernando at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Hernando: 3, Dunnellon: 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Weeki Wachee, they will head out to face off against Nature Coast Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nature Coast Tech will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Weeki Wachee surely won't give up without a fight.
