2A District 8 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Dalton Frasure of Prestonsburg ran for the longest rushing play in 2A District 8 this season against Shelby Valley last week. Frasure ran for 64 yards on the play and finished with 152 on the day as his team bested the Wildcats.
Leslie County was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. The Eagles beat Betsy Layne 26-19 earlier in the week.
Prestonsburg's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jarredd Jarrell threw for 292 and five touchdowns and Grant Anderson had 180 yards receiving. Bryson Williams helped Prestonsburg's passing attack out by catching two balls for 79 yards.
Prestonsburg's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Black Cats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jarrell has thrown for 2501 yards and 25 touchdowns this season, while Anderson has 51 catches for 959 yards. Jarrell also leads the league in rushing with 598 yards.
A big matchup in 2A District 8 this week will be when Leslie County takes on Shelby Valley. Timothy Koogler's team is currently in second, while Kevin Saunders' team is in fourth.
