The Osmond/Randolph Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They received a tough blow as they fell 49-31 to Ponca. Osmond/Randolph lost against Ponca in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 52-15 score last time.
Despite the loss, Osmond/Randolph still got an impressive performance from Sophie Gansebom, who scored ten points.
Even though they lost, Osmond/Randolph were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ponca only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Ponca's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elsie Keller, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Keller is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Emerson Ehlers was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Osmond/Randolph bumped their record down to 0-2 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Ponca, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Osmond/Randolph won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Wynot at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. Wynot presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Osmond/Randolph in Nebraska (Wynot is ranked 46th, while Osmond/Randolph is ranked 220th). As for Ponca, they will head out on the road to face off against Irene/Wakonda at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
