Centerville (Ohio) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 17-13 victory over
Fairmont (Kettering, Ohio) on Saturday. The Elks captured the lead for good when
Jimmy Brooks ran for a touchdown.
After taking the lead on a
Brooklyn Freeman-Jones touchdown run, the Firebirds went into halftime with a 13-0 lead. The Elks took the lead for good with a Brooks touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring seven points in the third, Centerville still trailed by 6 points going into the fourth quarter. But 10 points in the fourth helped CHS pull out the victory.
Brooks was the top performer for the Elks. The senior quarterback ran for two touchdowns.
Freeman-Jones played well for Fairmont. He ran for one touchdown and kicked two field goals and one extra point.
FHS's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Freeman-Jones in the first quarter.
Centerville entered the contest giving up 24.6 points per game this year.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 49-21 win for CHS.
With the win the Elks extended their winning streak to four games.
Fairmont (1-5) goes up against Springfield in a Greater Western Ohio - Central game matchup next week, while Centerville (4-2) locks horns with Northmont also in a Greater Western Ohio - Central game.
