The Pine Creek Eagles had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They escaped with a win on Wednesday against Liberty by the margin of a single free throw, 52-51. Given Pine Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Liberty is ranked 202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pine Creek was led to victory by Paul Grier and Blake Marshall. Grier scored 13 points along with six assists and two steals, while Marshall dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Wright, who scored four points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Liberty still got an impressive performance from London Praytor, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Praytor has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cameron Cunningham, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Pine Creek's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Liberty, they bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Pine Creek will take on Fountain-Fort Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fountain-Fort Carson is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Liberty, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Doherty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Doherty's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
