It was a good run, but the Laney Buccaneers unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were beaten by New Hanover 82-52. Laney has struggled against New Hanover recently, as their game on Wednesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Laney still got an impressive performance from Shark Baynard, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Hezron Driver, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Laney's loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-2. As for New Hanover, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-0.
Laney and Hoggard will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hoggard will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Laney is ranked 38th). As for New Hanover, New Hanover and Ashley will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Ashley is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
