While losing is never fun, New Madrid County Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while Kennett is ranked 97th).
Meanwhile, Saxony Lutheran humbled Greenville with a 64-25 victory. The win was just what Saxony Lutheran needed coming off of a 66-32 defeat in their prior match.
Saxony Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abigail Haley led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 15 steals. Those 15 steals set a new season-high mark for Haley. The team also got some help courtesy of Evie Caruso, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds.
New Madrid County Central's loss was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Saxony Lutheran, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
