Santa Rosa Academy hasn't had much luck against Linfield Christian recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Santa Rosa Academy Rangers will venture away from home to face off against the Linfield Christian Lions at 3:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Santa Rosa Academy saw some tournament action on Monday. They walked away with a 16-12 win over Lakeside. The Rangers haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Kadence Bernard made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Bernard was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, Madeleine ?Goose? Hillyer was a standout: she scored two runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Nyanna Moore, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Santa Rosa Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Linfield Christian put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Temecula Valley 10-2. Fans of the Lions have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Celeste Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Linfield Christian got a massive performance out of Caden Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Autumn Cabrera, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Linfield Christian's record now sits at 3-0. As for Santa Rosa Academy, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Santa Rosa Academy suffered a grim 15-8 defeat to Linfield Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Santa Rosa Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
