If the Wheat Ridge Farmers were feeling good off their 53-15 takedown of the DSST: Conservatory Green Hornets last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wheat Ridge was dealt a 57-14 loss at the hands of the Cougars on Wednesday. Wheat Ridge was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-6.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Wheat Ridge struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Evergreen racked up 13 assists.
Taylor Bailey was nothing short of spectacular for Evergreen: she scored eight points along with seven steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Bailey posted two or more blocks. Tatum Buenning was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals and three blocks.
Wheat Ridge's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.3 points per game. As for Evergreen, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.
Coincidentally, Wheat Ridge and the Cougars will both be playing the Rams the next time they take the court. Evergreen will head out to face Green Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Wheat Ridge will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
