Calvary Christian Academy added to the longest winning streak in Citrus this week by beating Foothills Christian, 56-19. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Royal Knights.
Lutheran lost to Classical Academy 66-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Noah Henkell threw for 131 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 17 yards in the defeat.
Borrego Springs's dynamic duo of Gunner Van Sickle and Jordan Thompson proved tough for Julian to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Van Sickle threw for 246 yards and 4 touchdowns and Thompson had 127 yards receiving. Michael Manzano helped Borrego Springs' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 99 yards.
Justin Santa maria was a force in the backfield as Calvary Christian Academy beat the Knights.
He went 9-18 with 1 interception.
Santa maria was a passing and rushing force as Gene Rheam's team topped Foothills Christian.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Lutheran's Henkell and Kevin Gunn have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Henkell has thrown for 1,832 yards this season, while Gunn has 35 catches for 530 yards. The Royal Knights' Santa maria leads the league in rushing yards with 1,563.
Classical Academy led the league in scoring this week after putting up 66 points on Ron Allen's team.
