Staunton is a perfect 7-0 against Vandalia since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Vandals at 4:30 p.m. Staunton's pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so Vandalia's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Staunton's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Pana by a score of 4-0. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Not much got past Gianna Bianco, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Pana off the board. Bianco has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lilly Bandy, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ele Feldmann, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Staunton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Vandalia suffered their biggest loss since April 11th on Thursday. They lost 10-3 to Litchfield. The defeat continues a trend for the Vandals in their meetings with the Purple Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.
Vandalia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mady McCall, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Staunton pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Vandalia, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.
Staunton took their victory against Vandalia in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-0 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vandals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
