Medway hasn't had much luck against Ashland recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Mustangs will welcome the Clockers at 4:15 p.m. Medway is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
If Medway beats Ashland with eight runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Mustangs put the hurt on Westwood with a sharp 8-2 win on Monday. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Matt Olynciw spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Johnny Farrell, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ashland). They walked away with a 9-6 victory over Dover-Sherborn on Monday. The Clockers haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Jared Grunbaum made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Ashland: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 3-5 otherwise. Grunbaum was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Michael Schreiber was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Luke O'Brien, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Medway's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Ashland, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
