The Lewisville Lions fought the good fight in their overtime game against the McBee Panthers on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 40-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lewisville in their matchups with McBee: they've now lost nine in a row.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mariah Wallace, who scored 16 points along with five steals. Wallace has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Aiyana Murrell was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 16 rebounds and three blocks.
Lewisville's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-3. As for McBee, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lewisville will face off against Great Falls at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Great Falls comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for McBee, they will head out on the road to square off against C.A. Johnson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
