The Morningside Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Spanish River.
Morningside Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elijah Clifford, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Brandon Clark, who scored nine points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spanish River to victory, but perhaps none more so than Devan Degiuseppe, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Litten, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Morningside Academy's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Spanish River, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12.
Morningside Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Grandview Prep at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Grandview Prep will be looking to keep their ten-game home win streak alive. Spanish River won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Forest Hill at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Forest Hill is ranked 473rd, while Spanish River is ranked 480th).
