Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Chaminade-Madonna

Chaminade-Madonna came tearing into Saturday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 61-47 win over the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chaminade-Madonna got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaac Mothersill out in front who went 6 for 13 en route to 16 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Mothersill has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasen Lopez, who posted 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Dr. Joaquin Garcia lost, don't look at Drovinsky Ulysse. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Ulysse has become a key player for Dr. Joaquin Garcia: the team is 9-4 when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 3-4 otherwise. BJ Eriscar was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points and five boards.

Chaminade-Madonna's record is now 18-4. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.

Chaminade-Madonna wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-60 win against Western on the 30th. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 70-45 victory against Leonard on the 28th.
