MAYODAN, N.C. - the Wildcats scored 22 points in the second quarter to secure a big 41-7 victory over McMichael (Mayodan, N.C.) on Saturday.
West Stokes scored on a
Malik Banner touchdown run, a touchdown run by
Rashad Witherspoon and a touchdown pass by
Alex Manley to
Ricky Kirchenbauer in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a Witherspoon touchdown run in the first quarter, WS led 28-0 at the half.
The King school grew its lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. The Wildcats' lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by Witherspoon.
McMichael's only touchdown came on a 27-yard pass in the fourth quarter.
When the two teams played each other last season, West Stokes came away with a 28-20 victory.
The victory was a step in the right direction for WS, which was coming off a 34-6 defeat at the hands of Reagan in its previous game. The loss was the third in a row for the Phoenix.
