After losing to the Medicine Valley Raiders the last time they met, the Arapahoe Warriors decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Arapahoe managed a 46-42 victory over Medicine Valley on Friday.
Arapahoe's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cadence Carpenter, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Clara Hilker was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
Loss or not, Medicine Valley got some senior leadership from Stella Heapy who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals and Sienna Houghtelling who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and eight blocks. Heapy scored a full 38.1% of Medicine Valley's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Rose, who scored nine points.
The win got Arapahoe back to even at 6-6. As for Medicine Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Arapahoe will head out on the road to face off against Loomis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Loomis is ranked 173rd, while Arapahoe is ranked 181st). As for Medicine Valley, they will be playing at home against Sandhills Valley at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Sandhills Valley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last nine games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
