Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Northside's Winning Streak

It was fun while it lasted, but Northside's undefeated season came to an end after six games on Tuesday. They fell to the Shaw Raiders 40-34. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Patriots came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Raiders are ranked 223rd).

It was another big night for Quishyi Walcott, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds for Shaw. That's the most points Walcott has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Shipp, who posted nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Northside fell to 6-1. As for Shaw, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside will square off against Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Northside has won three straight at home, while Columbus won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Shaw, they will welcome Smiths Station at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
