Basketball Recap: Chayce Duerksen Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Minarets

Sierra won the last time they faced Minarets and things went their way on Friday too. The Sierra Chieftains were the clear victor by a 55-35 margin over the Minarets Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Chieftains have posted since December 27, 2024.

Sierra's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chayce Duerksen led the charge by putting up 16 points. Duerksen's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Micah Goodman, who posted 16 points.

Sierra has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Minarets, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Sierra has already played their next game, a 79-52 win against Yosemite on the 21st. As for Minarets, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-51 victory against Parlier on the 21st.
