The Florence Eagles will square off against the Sumrall Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Florence's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They didn't even let Raleigh on the board, marking the Eagles' second-straight 16-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won five contests in a row.

Bryan Davis and Morgan Weathersby did most of the damage at the plate: Davis scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Weathersby scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Weathersby a new career-high in RBI (two). Brady Griffin was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Florence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Sumrall got the win against Pass Christian on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bobcats.
Sumrall let Leo Odom and Tyler Lowery run wild. Odom went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Lowery went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was Lowery's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Hawkins, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Sumrall pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Florence, their record is now 17-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Florence has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Sumrall struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
