The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Maryland (St. John's Catholic Prep is ranked 111th, while Severn School is ranked 99th).
On Wednesday, St. John's Catholic Prep came up short against Gerstell Academy and fell 56-47.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cayenne Pigeon, who scored 17 points. Nadia Ferguson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Severn School beat Maryvale Prep 35-30 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Severn School.
St. John's Catholic Prep has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Severn School, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 14-7.
St. John's Catholic Prep strolled past Severn School in their previous matchup back in January of 2018 by a score of 59-44. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Severn School's Sydney Tolliver, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
