It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Taylor Wildcats can now relate to. They took a 64-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Centurions. Taylor's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Taylor saw an underclassman step up: Nikko Dozier scored 15 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zachery McKinnon, who scored six points along with five blocks and four steals.
Circle Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lucas Valdes led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Valdes hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Noah Whisler was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Taylor's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Circle Christian, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 9-13.
Taylor does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Circle Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Father Lopez at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Circle Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.2 points per game this season.
