There's no place like home for the Tri County Northeast Wolfpack, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on January 4th. They came out on top against Walthill by a score of 57-46 on Monday. The win was all the more spectacular given Tri County Northeast's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Walthill is ranked 57th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tri County Northeast to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jackson Belt, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 20 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Jorgensen, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Defeat or not, Walthill got some senior leadership from Adrian Phillips and Ethan Parker. Phillips scored 16 points, while Parker. scored 14 points.
Tri County Northeast is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for Walthill, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri County Northeast won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pender at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Pender is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games. Walthill won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Winside at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Winside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday.
