The Windermere Prep Lakers came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 71-67 win over Lake Highland Prep. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Windermere Prep found their leader in underclassman Brandon Bass jr., who scored 29 points. Bass jr. is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last ten games he's played. Sinan Huan was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Windermere Prep pushed their record up to 14-4 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Lake Highland Prep, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3.
Windermere Prep will face off against Norland at 1:40 p.m. on Saturday. Norland knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Windermere Prep likes a good challenge. Lake Highland Prep will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Osceola at 3:00 p.m. on January 20th. Osceola will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Lake Highland Prep is ranked 35th).
