The St. Johns Country Day Spartans can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Covenant School of Jacksonville 66-30 at home. Given St. Johns Country Day's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Covenant School of Jacksonville is ranked 429th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading St. Johns Country Day to victory were Mary Kate Kent and Kendall Proffitt. Kent scored 27 points, while Proffitt scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Proffitt hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Sophia Mejias was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
St. Johns Country Day pushed their record up to 13-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Covenant School of Jacksonville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Johns Country Day will take on Clay at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Aiyana Haynes and Kent. Covenant School of Jacksonville will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Eagle's View at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th. Eagle's View is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.
